Civil Plan Review & Public Improvement Permitting
The Engineering Division is responsible for the review and permitting of civil site improvement plans associated with private development projects. Our primary role is to ensure that any construction involving public infrastructure meets all applicable standards and regulations.
Private developments that involve the construction, modification, or expansion of public infrastructure—such as streets, sidewalks, curbs, driveways, storm drainage systems, sanitary sewer lines, water mains, or other utilities located within the public right-of-way or public utility easements—must undergo thorough review and receive appropriate permits before work can begin.
Through the Plan Review and issuance of Public Improvement Permits, the Engineering Division ensures that all proposed work:
- Complies with the City’s design and construction standards
- Meets applicable State and Federal regulations
- Adheres to recognized engineering best practices and safety requirements
Our goal is to safeguard public assets, support responsible development, and ensure that all infrastructure improvements contribute to the long-term reliability and functionality of the City’s systems.
If your project involves public improvements, you are encouraged to contact the Engineering Division early in your planning process to understand the applicable requirements and streamline the review and permitting process.
