Food Service Establishment Stakeholder Meeting
Tuesday, July 9, 2019 - 2:00pm
Do you operate a business in St. Helens that involves food or drinks?
The City of St. Helens is hosting a stakeholder meeting on July 9 to discuss a new Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG) reduction program that affects owners and operators of food service establishments in St. Helens.
Fats, oils, and greases (FOG) build up in sewer pipes and, over time, can cause reduced flow or blockages in sewer pipes (much like a blocked artery in a body). This can cause raw sewage to back up into your home or business. FOG build-up is an increasing problem across the United States.
The goal of the City’s July 9 meeting is to discuss the revised St. Helens Sewer Use Regulations that were adopted in October 2018, which include a FOG abatement program for food service establishments.
During the meeting, City staff will discuss the purpose of the program and how owners and operators can make changes to follow the new regulations.
Materials will be provided at the meeting for those in attendance or by contacting the City Pretreatment Coordinator Johnny Leavy at johnnyl@ci.st-helens.or.us or 503-366-8247.
