Wind/Rain Storm Event Information
WIND/RAIN STORM EVENT INFORMATION
With some weather reports calling for a potential of up to 5 inches of rain and strong winds in the next week, please keep the following information in mind:
SAND BAGS: Sand and sand bags are currently available at the St. Helens City Shops. PLEASE NOTE NEW LOCATION. The sand pile and sand bags have been moved to 1230 Deer Island Road (the property at the corner of Oregon Street and Deer Island Road). The sand pile is along the Deer Island Road side of the property, directly across from CC Rider. This area is lighted at night and should provide safer access. Shovels should be there to fill sand bags, but please come prepared with your own shovels in case ours go missing. Public Works crews will monitor the sand pile and replenish as needed. Additional sand will be available at McCormick Park near the ball fields.
STORM DRAINS: Help us keep storm drains clear: please do not sweep yard debris and fallen leaves into the street. Sweeping leaves into the street clogs the storm drain grates, causing rain water to pool on the road. This is dangerous. Public Works crews are making rounds this week checking on storm drains.
POWER OUTAGES: Report power outages to Columbia River PUD by calling 503-397-1844. Before the power goes out, brush up on instructions for reporting an outage at http://www.crpud.net/stay-safe/outage-center/report-an-outage.
