Port of St. Helens IPP (2015)
Port of St. Helens Intergovernmental Partnership Program
$35,000 Total Project = $13,000 Port Contribution + $22,000 City Match
December 2014, the Port of St. Helens announced a Partnership Program to provide cities, counties, and special districts the opportunity to enhance community through advances in economic development, physical infrastructure, and public safety. The City applied to this program and in May 2015, the Port announced they would jointly fund a study that would evaluate the economic impacts of a Highway 30 connection to the waterfront properties. The study summarized existing economic conditions, developed three theoretical alternative transportation alignments and conducted interviews with key economic stakeholders in order to analyze the extent to which the transportation new connection would help attract industries. The study found that intersection improvements to the existing road connection is the best option in the near term. See the full report and the conclusions memo below for more information.
