EPA Brownfield AWP Program (2015 - 2016)
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Brownfield Area-Wide Planning Grant
$200,000
On March 9, 2015, the EPA announced St. Helens would be one of twenty national communities in 2015 to be awarded a grant for planning, cleanup, and reuse of brownfield sites to revitalize and strengthen local economies. The City plans to use the grant to address remaining environmental questions regarding the Veneer and Boise White Paper Mill sites. The City will work with the community and stakeholders to develop an area-wide plan and implementation strategy for the project area. Funds will be utilized to summarize existing physical and regulatory conditions of the properties, organize community engagement activities, carry out site-specific redevelopment assessments and scenario plans to identify future site uses, and develop a detailed implementation strategy for revitalization of the St. Helens waterfront. The complete workplan and draft timeline can be seen below.
Three open houses were held for the AWP program. Missed them? Documents are provided below. You can also check out the City's Facebook for a livestream of the presentation.
